MiniModule/FSS

Floppy, serial, and SCSI interface for CoreModule applications

PC- and PC/AT-compatible floppy
drive controller

 PC-compatible RS232C serial port

SCSI controller for hard disk, tape,
and other SCSI devices

 Stacks directly with Ampro CoreModule
products and other PC/104 modules

 Ultra compact PC/104 form-factor:
3.6 x 3.8 inches (90 x 96 mm)

 Low power, rugged, and reliable

The MiniModule/FSS expansion periph-
eral is a compact, low power, multi-
function module intended to stack
directly with Ampro's CoreModule CPUs
and other PC/104 modules via its stack-
through bus header.

The MiniModule/FSS provides three key
interfaces for expanding CoreModule-
based systems: a floppy drive controller,
a serial port, and a SCSI bus interface.

*Floppy Interface*
Support for one or two 360K, 720K,
1.2M, or 1.44M floppy disk drives is pro-
vided through the PC and AT compatible
floppy disk controller.

*Serial Port*
The PC- and AT-compatible RS232C
serial port interface can be configured as
either COM2 or COM3 (COM1 already
exists on CoreModule CPUs). Jumpers
permit selection of a desired interrupt re-
quest, from IRQ2 through IRQ7.

Because of its PC compatibility, the
MiniModule/FSS serial port can be oper-
ated under any of the many programs
written to work with standard PC and
PC/AT serial ports.

The MiniModule/FSS serial port also
supports a unique interrupt sharing
scheme. This option allows multiple
serial ports on certain modules (e.g., the
MiniModule/SSP) to share a single inter-
rupt request on the PC bus (Note: this
requires customized software).

*SCSI Interface*
The module's SCSI interface features the
popular 53C80 SCSI protocol controller.
SCSI support within the CoreModule
CPU's onboard ROM-BIOS allows the
use of a wide variety of SCSI hard disks
as either boot or data drives.

*Custom Configurations*
Although any of the module's three control-
lers (floppy, serial, or SCSI) can be
disabled via jumpers, volume production
orders may specify the exclusion of any
one or two functions. Contact Ampro
for further information on custom
configurations.
   PC/AT-compatible floppy drive controller

 PC/AT-compatible RS232C serial port

IDE interface for hard disk expansion

 Stacks directly with Ampro CoreModule
products and other PC/104 modules

 Ultra compact PC/104 form-factor:
3.6 x 3.8 inches (90 x 96 mm)

 Low power, rugged, and reliable

The MiniModule/FSI expansion module
is a compact, low power, multifunction
unit intended to stack directly with
Ampro's AT-compatible CoreModule
CPUs and other PC/104 modules via its
stackthrough bus header.

The MiniModule/FSI provides three key
interfaces for expanding CoreModule-
based systems: a floppy drive controller,
a serial port, and an IDE drive interface.

*Floppy Interface*
Support for one or two 360K, 720K,
1.2M, or 1.44M floppy disk drives is pro-
vided through the fully AT-compatible
floppy disk controller.

*Serial Port*
The module's AT-compatible RS232C
serial port can be configured as either
COM2 or COM3 (COM1 already exists
on CoreModule CPUs). Jumpers permit
selection of a desired interrupt request.
Because of its AT compatibility, the
MiniModule/FSI serial port can be oper-
ated under any of the many programs
written to work with standard PC and
PC/AT serial ports.

The MiniModule/FSI serial port also sup-
ports a unique interrupt sharing scheme.
This option allows multiple ports on cer-
tain modules (e.g., the MiniModule/SSP)
to share a single interrupt request on the
PC bus (Note: this requires customized
software).

*IDE Interface*
The module's IDE interface can connect
to one or two "Integrated Device Elec-
tronics" (IDE) disk drives. IDE drives
are intelligent disk drives that contain
an embedded AT bus hard disk controller.
Because of the compatibility IDE drives
provide with the standard AT bus hard
disk controller, virtually all operating
systems, drivers, utilities, and applica-
tions can be used without modification.
