MiniModule/VGA

Flat panel and CRT display adapter

MiniModule/VGA
CRT and flat panel display controller

 High resolution, up to 640 x 480

 Fully hardware and software compatible
with five popular PC video standards:
VGA, EGA, CGA, MDA, and Hercules
monochrome graphics

Supports analog CRTs, plus LCD and
EL flat panels

 Programmable panel interface timing

 Frame-rate-control gray-scale color
simulation on monochrome LCDs

Stacks directly with Ampro CPU and
expansion products

 Ultra compact PC/104 form-factor:
3.6 x 3.8 inches (90 x 96 mm)

 Low power, rugged, and reliable

The MiniModule/VGA expansion
module offers full hardware and software
compatibility with five popular PC video
standardsVGA, EGA, CGA, MDA, and
Hercules monochrome graphics
in a compact, low power, unit designed to
stack directly with Ampro's Little Board
and CoreModule family products.

Besides interfacing with Analog VGA
CRT monitors, the MiniModule/VGA
can control a wide range of LCD and elec-
troluminescent (EL) flat panels.
Because of its compatibility with standard
PC video modes, the MiniModule/VGA
is supported by virtually all operating sys-
tems, drivers, utilities, and applications for
text and graphics display.

The MiniModule/VGA can be installed
on Ampro Little Board and CoreModule
family CPU or expansion products, in
any PC/104 module-stack position. The
module can stack directly with the stack-
through bus headers of other PC/104
modules, without additional adapters or
accessories.

*Advanced Flat Panel Support*
The MiniModule/VGA provides a number
of unique features that enhance and
simplify the use of flat panel displays:

 Programmable panel interface:
to support the diverse signal timing
and interface requirements of differ-
ent flat panel technologies and manu-
facturers, a programmable VGA
BIOS is located in an onboard flash
EPROM. Currently supported flat
panels are listed in Table 2. OEMs
can develop configuration files for
additional displays, using an optional
flat panel BIOS customization kit.

 Display centering and stretching:
a variety of automatic display center-
ing and stretching techniques can be
used when running lower resolution
software on a higher resolution
display.

 Color simulation: color is converted
to gray-scale on monochrome LCDs,
using 16-level frame-rate-control
modulation.

 Color separation enhancement:
a function can be used in gray-scale
color simulation text modes to
enhance the contrast between
foreground and background colors.
